38 CREATIVE CHAOS PROMPTS
I compiled a list of amazing prompts to help artists and creatives bounce back from art block and burn out. I show off my versions of these prompts on my instagram, check it out! 1. Dip your fingers in paint and make random blobs, turn them into silly creatures. 2. Layer torn paper scraps and glue them randomly, create a chaotic collage. 3. Drop blobs of paint and blow them around with a straw. 4. Smudge charcoal or pencil marks all over and see what shapes appear. 5. Glue random objects (like buttons or twigs) to a page and paint over them. 6. Splatter ink or paint, then outline the shapes that emerge. 7. Create a tangle of lines, then create faces in the mess. 8. Make a textured surface with crumpled paper and glue, then paint over it. 9. Stamp random objects in paint and create a collage. 10. Glue down tissue paper, then paint over it for texture. 11. Make messy brushstrokes, then add detail with a fine pen. 12. Pour paint on the page and press another paper on top to make a print. 13. Layer translucent colors to create unexpected blends. 14. Press paint through a mesh or netting to create unexpected patterns. 15. Mix your own colours with only the primary colours. 16. Draw with your toes; paint, scribble, or doodle! 17. Hold three markers at once and make random patterns. 18. Close your eyes and draw a self-portrait. 19. Use a stick, spoon, or random object to paint instead of a brush. 20. Doodle with your non-dominant hand. 21. Switch hands every 30 seconds while drawing. 22. Tape a pen to a long stick and draw from far away. 23. Use your elbow to smear paint around. 24. Scribble with both hands at the same time. 25. Hold the pen between your knees and draw. 26. Draw a portrait while looking in a mirror, but don’t look at the paper. 27. Tape your pencil, pen, or paint brush to your finger or hand. 28. Draw something completely upside-down. 29. Hold the brush in your mouth and paint. 30. Draw something, then smudge half of it with your palm. 31. Draw without using any straight lines. 32. Roll a ball in paint and let it move across the page. 33. Paint to the rhythm of a song; change strokes with the beat. 34. Draw as fast as you can for one minute. 35. Hold the pen between your pinky and ring finger and draw. 36. Balance a book on your head while painting. 37. Tie a pen to string and draw holding only the string. 38. Draw without bending your elbow.
